Day 5 - It’s Pancake Day!
Shrove Tuesday = Pancake Day, so I made pancakes today. I haven’t made them in ages so my family were kept amused by my running commentary “the batter’s too thin! do you think I can just throw a bit more flour in? it just won’t thicken! oh no, now I’ve made it too thick! oh god, I flipped it up too high!”. After a lot of muppeting about and a change of frying pan, I served a tasty batch of pancakes. Some opted for the traditional sugar and lemon juice, I had mine with crushed nuts (cashews and pistachios) and maple syrup.
I’ve still got a jug full of batter in the fridge too..

yay pancakes! Why is shrove Tuesday pancake day? I hadn’t heard that before!
Why pancakes? It’s a British tradition and I think it was started to use up rich foods such as Milk, Eggs, Butter and Sugar before Lent starts.
I have no intention of observing Lent, but that won’t stop me indulging in pancakes.
