fingerless glove

i completed a fingerless glove that i started last week:

i still need to make the other one, but i’m not that happy with what i made and may make some adjustments for the right hand: smaller overall, bigger thumb hole, top edge is rolling but doesn’t seem to be in the original pattern (’fetching’ from knitty)…

  • I made the same mitts over Christmas and found the top edge did the same thing for me. It drove me especially crazy after doing the fancy picot edging: no one could see it! I love the cables, though!

  • oh that is good for me to know.. thanks for the tip, it makes me feel better that it isn’t just me… i did learn to do picot edging for the first time so that’s good…

  • i love the pattern for these gloves - how did the thumb part turn out? i couldn’t see it in your photo. are they comfortable or bulky? i’ve been thinking about buying a pair for myself. i’ve also seen them made from felted sweater arms, but the thumb part is just a hole cut in the sweater, not as elegant as these.

  • i think i maybe knit the thumb part incorrectly b/c it looks way different from the photo (which looks like there several rows extending onto the thumb, whereas mine is more of a hole). i will take a more detailed pic to show and post to my flickr… the thumb hole isn’t that comfortable so i think i will widen it some… i wasn’t paying attention and when i took out the waste yarn, i think i lost of a couple of stitches, and when trying to get them back, i might have added a few too many…
